Long Beach Airport’s Festival of Flight is returning Saturday, October 29th from 10am-4pm. Mark your calendars!
LGB first kicked off the Festival of Flight (previously known as the Fly-In) in 2013, to commemorate the airport’s 90th anniversary and to inspire interest in aviation and travel. Through the years, the Festival of Flight has grown by leaps and bounds. Attendance grew from about 1,500 people in 2013, to around 15,000 in 2019! Not only has attendance grown, but also the number of family-friendly activities and exhibits.
“What started as LGB tenants bringing their most iconic planes to the Festival has grown to include military aircraft, vintage planes, gliders, airships, general aviation planes and helicopters,” says Marlene Arrona of LGB public affairs.
“It’s a great experience being on the airfield - hearing commercial planes take off and seeing static aircraft up close. Add in the opportunity to talk to pilots, see live entertainment, and enjoy fun activities and food trucks – the Long Beach Airport Festival of Flight is a delight for all ages!”
The Festival of Flight is free to attend, and all are welcome! (There is a nominal fee for some activities, such as helicopter rides.) There will be food trucks on site to make sure nobody in your flight crew goes hungry, and a beer garden will be available for attendees 21 and older.
Free parking for the Festival of Flight will be available at East Wardlow Road and Globemaster Way, adjacent to the event site, on a first-come first-served basis. LGB encourages attendees to use rideshare or public transportation.
