It’s St. Patrick's Day and you are stuck at home twiddling your thumb thinking of what plans you can do tonight that sounds appealing to all your friends. Stress no longer, Legends Sports Bar located on 5236 E. 2nd St. has something to suit everyone in your group. Whether you are a bibulous person, foodie fanatic or a party animal; Legends continues to redefine your average bar experience.
On Sunday, March 17, Legends will be hosting their annual Legendary St. Patrick's Day Party. Entrance to the celebration costs $5 for a memorable festive celebration of the Irish and Irish American culture. It has been observed in North America despite it not being a legal holiday anywhere in the U.S.
“Everything is green, green, green,” said Legends co-owner Eric Johnson. “It’s the one day of the year where it's not just the regulars. You get people that save up throughout the year for this.”
The Belmont Shore’s bar will be providing an Irish menu with food and drink specials for this one-day event. Corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, spicy potatoes and shepherd's pie will be available to grub on. Alcoholic drinks such as ice cold Guinness, green domestic drafts, green bottles, green margaritas, green mixed cocktails and Irish car bombs are up for grabs to compliment your entrees, or to have individually.
“A famous pick is the Irish car bomb dropper because a lot of people like to carry it around,” Johnson said.
On St. Patrick’s Day, Legends will be open until 2 a.m., the normal closing hour. Although, this event isn’t a Super Bowl or World Cup, it is their most celebrated holiday. A large crowd will be expected so it’s best to arrive early.
“People come in and out frequently,” Johnson said. “We keep a rotating system to make sure everyone is included and gets to join our party.”
Promotions for Irish whiskey will be available at the first modern sports bar that Sunday. Deals on car bomb Guinness with whiskey shots will make an appearance on the green-splashed holiday. Further details will be announced the day of the event.
“Overall, it’s good energy and everyone is acting Irish with their pits,” Johnson said. “There’s a lot of genuine people and it's a very festive environment.”
