From a signed Joe Montana football to Shaquille O'Neal's giant shoes, Legends Sports Bar has been accumulating sports memorabilia for years. It is a collection that is indeed legendary and spans the changing times in sports.
“We’re always looking to update the collection,” said Legends co-owner Eric Johnson. “I always look for compelling pieces of memorabilia.”
With Lebron James now playing for Lakers Nation and the start of the highly-anticipated NFL season, it will be the perfect time to check out the sports relics at Legends, sip on a cold one, and enjoy all the games at the restaurant and bar.
“It’s going to be huge for us at Legends,” Johnson said. “I think the biggest Lakers game that we’ve had in recent memory here at Legends was Kobe Bryant's last game. There was so much excitement, and there’s no doubt Long Beach has a ton of Lakers fans. This is definitely a Lakers town and having Lebron is going to take it to another level.”
Another big draw for people to come and hang out at Legends this fall is the start of the new NFL football season.
“Football is a fun time of year and we’re really looking forward to it,” Johnson said. “Especially now with two L.A. teams.”
Legends Sports Bar is the first modern sports bar in America. It has seen the changing tides of Los Angeles pro-football teams and was also around when The Forum was the only pro-basketball stadium in town.
Recently, Legends updated their large 30-foot projector television screen inside the bar, which is going to be the prime spot to watch any game this year.
“It’s a crystal clear picture,” Johnson said. “It’s almost like a movie screen.”
Legends will be broadcasting all the games on their multiple television screens throughout the restaurant.
“Sundays are always very popular, but particularly, NFL Sundays,” Johnson said.
Come out for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays and enjoy specials on mimosas and bloody marys. Also, cool yourself down with one of “Legends Splashes”—a refreshing mix of beer and cider.
“It’s a great summertime drink,” Johnson said.
