It’s not summer in Long Beach until the sweet sounds of the Long Beach Municipal Band are serenading local park patrons. East Long Beach residents got their first taste of this century-old tradition at Whaley Park on Tuesday, and the sight was as classic as the band itself. Lawn chairs, blankets, strollers, kids running around, and homemade charcuterie formed the recipe for another all-American night.
