908 Athlete of the Week: Tyler Schafer

“Wilson golfer Tyler Schafer is the 908 Athlete of the Week, again?!?!”

Don’t get mad at us. The guy is RIDICULOUS. It’s not our fault that he goes out week after week and makes kids cry on the golf course. I mean he was up 15 STROKES thru 63 holes of the Moore League Boys’ Individual Golf Tournament.

Schafer won the individual tournament for the third consecutive year, putting his name up there with the likes of Kobe, Shaq and other great athletes who have “three-peated” in their careers.

His 15-under performance set a new Moore League Individual Tournament record after he banged home a birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole at El Dorado Golf Course. Think about it…You have to have a pair of ‘Titleists” to knock a putt down like that with so much on the line. He broke a 19-year-old tournament record. I guess you can make a case that since he’s a millennial, he doesn’t feel pressure because EVERYONE breaks a record in the “trophy generation.” But I don’t believe Schafer falls in that category. He’s the GOAT and has been for a while now.

He and his Bruin teammates are shooting for their third consecutive CIF-SS championship next week at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley. Schafer will be the second athlete ever to three-peat twice in a career. The other: Michael Jordan.

Good Luck to Long Beach Wilson boys’ golf and my life coach Jeff Evans. I hope Schafer shoots 31-under so he can get 908 Athlete of the Week, again.
