This Weekend's Family Fun Events

Celebrate the first weekend in May with a Cinco de Mayo celebration, a night at the Aquarium of the Pacific and more!

Uptown Village Market

Friday, May 4 | 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

EXPO Arts Center | 4321 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA, 90807

Looking to get out of the house for a bit on Friday evening? Gather the family, bundle up and head over to the Uptown Village Market to see what our local artists and creators of well-crafted goods have to show and sell. This bi-annual event is a showcase of unique, high quality, and, above all, HANDCRAFTED items. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and craft centers.

Shark Lagoon Nights at the Aquarium

Friday, May 4 | 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Aquarium of the Pacific | 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA, 90802

It’s likely that you have been to the Aquarium of the Pacific at least once during the day; if not once, possibly more visits than you can count. We like this event because it’s a unique experience for local families to visit the aquarium in the evening when the crowds have dissipated and the sharks are in “night mode.” It’s nice to indulge in a cup of coffee, hot cocoa, wine or beer and casually enjoy the outside aquarium space with family. Best of all, this event is free!

Cinco de Mayo Celebration and Cultural Conversation

Saturday, May 5 | 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library | 5870 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA, 90805

Here is a Cinco de Mayo celebration that the whole family can enjoy! Join the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library as they bring the community together to celebrate and educate of Mexican and Mexican-American culture and traditions. Enjoy the beauty of Folklorico dancing, live Mariachi music, performances by the Latin American Student Society from Jordan High School and historical presentations.

Rossmoor Community Festival

Sunday, May 6 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Rush Park | 3021 Blume Dr., Rossmoor, CA, 90720

This is just a good ol’ community festival hosted by local residents and neighborhood associations. Enjoy a line-up of classic cars as old as 1930’s models, a dog parade, food trucks and food booths, live entertainment and more. This is definitely a day for a park blanket, folding chairs, and a relaxed attitude. Join the community for this social Sunday outing.
